Lower South East Hockey Association

Life Member Annie Anderson

Annie Anderson was made a life member of the Lower South East Hockey Association in 2023.

Annie was based in Horsham and since 2006 operated her hockey equipment business “Hooked on Hockey” from her white van.

Annie travelled around Western Victoria and into the South East of South Australia selling hockey gear and providing coaching services to many children, and was heavily involved in goal keeper development in both South Australia and Victoria.

Coaching was her passion and life-long ambition, coaching at club, association and state levels.

Annie would always turn up at the start of each new season, ready to help players gear up for another year. Then every weekend during hockey season, Annie and her white van were at a game somewhere. Annie would set up her van near the hockey fields, and players, parents and children would flock to the van every time she came, to source much-needed equipment and for the opportunity to have a chat with Annie.

Annie's passion for hockey was infectious. So was her laugh. She was a very expressive person, who loved to talk hockey!

Over the years Annie played for many clubs, including Tigers and Cavaliers in the Lower South East Hockey Association, and for Masters teams in both South Australia and Victoria. A headband or bandana was a staple part of Annie's playing uniform.

Annie passed away suddenly in a vehicle crash in Horsham on 22 November 2022, aged 56 years.

Annie was much loved and is sadly missed by the hockey community in South Australia and Victoria.
