Dale's Turkey caused havoc for fellow Club team Falcons

Published Sun 30 Oct 2022

It was never going to be an easy game for Workers Falcons when they took on fellow Club members, Dale’s Turkeys.  With only five players due to illness within the team, they had to rely on Byron Allsox team members, Ella Galea and Jet Taylor to give them eight players for the game.

Falcons sent Turkey’s into bat because Erin Rucker was kitted up and ready to go!

Turkeys came out firing with lead off batter Carmen Thomas slamming the ball through centre field.  Tina Foster was lucky to reach first after a blitzing ball to left field was dropped despite an awesome attempt by Jet Taylor to take the catch.

Falcons first out come from Leah Manning, playing a deep secondbase, scooped up the play of the bat our Lauren Forrester to throw her out at first and into the happy hands of her Forrester’s son Kobi.  Pitcher Lyn McDonald teamed up with Kobi Forrester at firstbase to make an easy out, but Turkeys had managed to cross homeplate six times.

Falcons first two batters in Jacinta McDonald and Forrester crossed homeplate with aggressive base running around the bases before Turkeys shortstop Ali Tomkins easily accounted for the first out with a catch off Lyn McDonald’s bat. Bronwyn Gibson and Taylor both hit straight to Thomas at second base who fielded the ball and, in a regulation, play, throw them out at first which left Erin Rucker stranded on first base after a safe hit to leftfield.

Turkeys continued to belt the ball with hits to Olivia Roberts, Forrester and a homerun to Katie Foster to score another six runs.

After leadoff batter, Manning was thrown out at first by pitcher Tina Foster, Ella Galea cleared the infield to hit safely to centrefield for Falcons.  With discipline batting Jacinta McDonald has taken the crow, from her mother Lyn, and is now known as the “Queen of Walks”.  Kobi Forrester hit straight to the pitcher and was thrown out at first, while Lyn McDonald scored two runners with a big hit to centrefield.  Gibson hit to Shay Kelly at first base who easily made the out and sent Falcons back out to the field.

McDonald claimed all Falcons outs, taking a high fly ball of Thomas’ bat and combined with catcher, Rucker striking out Katie Foster.  But Turkeys again hit through the infield with Tomkins, Roberts and Kelly leading the attack and score a further six runs.

A change of pitcher for Falcons was enough to upset Falcon’s rhythm with Thomas claiming all three batters who hit back to her on the pitching plate and combining with Kelly on firstbase for the outs.

Tina Foster, Roberts, Kelly Forrester and Shannon Eyles all smacked the ball into the outfield.  But it was Katie Foster who hit her second homerun for the game that pushed her side to an 18 – 4 win
