The Home of the Griffins Ice Hockey Teams
La Trobe University Ice Sports Club is the home of the Griffins ice hockey teams. We've strived to create a safe, respectful, affordable and fun opportunity for people to play ice hockey for the first time and develop their skills. Our two Griffins teams play at IceHQ in Reservoir (only 10 minutes from La Trobe University) and both are of beginner levels.
Division 9 is our entry level team, they typically play on a Saturday afternoon/evening. Division 8 is our other team, they typically play on a Sunday afternoon/evening.*
Season Information
There are usually two seasons per calendar year. The Winter Season runs from April to September, and Summer is typically October to March.*
Total fees vary each season, however you can expect to pay around $30 per session which is paid in bulk instalments throughout the season. To keep costs as low as possible, we offer hire gear free of charge for your first season. This includes everything you need except a helmet, neck guard and skates. You must have you own helmet and neck guard to play.
How to Register for a Team
If you're interested in playing, make sure you're a registered La Trobe University Ice Sports member and we will email you when team signups open. You can expect to hear from us in around August/September for the Summer season, and February/March for Winter. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is always required when signing up and this pays for your insurance.
You don't need to be a La Trobe University student to play, however you do need to be a registered member.
