What does all this mean to you?
Here are some stats:
- Almost 20% of the Australian population has a disability (according to National Government data)
- What can we do to better support these people? Especially if they are playing our sport
- In 2019, we had 209 members that English wasn’t their main language at home
- We currently have 434 members that don’t identify as Male or Female
Inclusion Coaching Booklet
- We will share with you this new resource that has been created to help build the knowledge and capacity for coaches to support ALL players.
- During COVID we worked on these resources and we are ready to share them with you
Association Inclusion Checklist
- We will share the checklist with you and talk through how an Association can be more inclusive
- What simple steps can you put in place?
- We can support you and share additional resources with you
SKIP Profile
- I have recently connected with Bek from Uniting Care and the NDIS dept and we have created a Hockey NSW SKIP profile
- The SKIP profile is a one page document that allows parents/carers to fill it out and hand it to their local coach and/or manager to ensure that they are able get the best support possible for the season ahead
- We understand that coaches support these players already, but we would like to support everyone that little bit more as we know that people are time poor and we will help bridge the gap when it comes to supporting members of all abilities.
During the forum we will have an open discussion about the direction that we are taking in this space and share with you some stories about what we know happens on the ground for people within our sport in the inclusion space.
We want to support you and our wider hockey community and we look forward to sharing these resources with you.
