We are committed to providing elite athlete students assistance and support to successfully combine their academic and sporting pursuits. In addition to academic and pathway support, our elite athletes may also be eligible to apply for specific athlete grants.
Elite Athlete Travel Subsidy
The Elite Athlete Travel Subsidy aims to provide financial support to our athletes in the form of one-off grants towards the costs incurred to the athlete associated with elite competition. Athletes can apply to the fund via submission of an application form via Revolutionise at any point during the year.
Applicants may only receive funding from the fund once per calendar year, except for when a student athlete is competing at an international FISU World University Games or Championship event in that same year. In this instance, students will be eligible for funding through the fund for the FISU event, and for a ‘standard’ Elite Athlete Subsidy application.
The level of funding an athlete will receive will be assessed in reflection of the representative level and location of competition. Students can receive up to $2000 for international competition, with tiered funding beneath this for domestic and local competition.
University Representation Subsidy
LEAP members who represent La Trobe University at UniSport events through the year are eligible for funding to assist their travels and participation.
The funding amounts will differ depending on the competition and will be discussed by the Representative Sport Team prior to the competition.
A discount code will be sent to their student email once they register for Uni Nationals.
Elite Athlete Equipment Subsidy
In recognition of the diverse needs of our elite athletes and the evolving landscape of competitive sports, we have introduced the 'Elite Athlete Equipment Subsidy' for 2024. This new grant aims to provide eligible athletes with a $100 subsidy to facilitate the acquisition of essential equipment crucial to their training and performance in their respective elite sports. Funding is available to currently enrolled students who are recognised as members of the La Trobe Elite Athlete Program (LEAP).
The primary objective of the 'Elite Athlete Equipment Subsidy' is to broaden the scope of financial support offered by the Elite Athlete Program. By specifically targeting the provision of subsidies for necessary equipment, we aim to address a critical aspect of an athlete's journey that may have been previously overlooked. This initiative seeks to ensure that every eligible athlete has access to the tools necessary to enhance their training and competitive edge, fostering an environment of inclusivity and support.
