Lakers Dragon Boat Club has been a part of the thriving dragon boat community in Brisbane, since 2005. The club began paddling on Forest Lake, but now launch from Riverhills, Brisbane river.
Dragon boating is a great way to improve and maintain physical and mental health and Laker\s achieve this through strong teamwork, fitness and a lot of fun. Lakers are very much part of the community, representing dragon boating annually at the Forest Lake community festival, as well as participating in regular fundraising and awareness raising events such as Movember, Pride day and Mental Health month.
Lakers believe that we are a stronger team when people feel respected and included. We are an all-inclusive, judgement-free team and commit to equity across race, gender, age, religion, ability and identity. Lakers value the unique strengths and experiences that contribute to our team.
The greatest results, the highest scores, the best teamwork, can only come when we bring our whole selves onto the field. In inclusive teams, everyone wins ( spaaij, R., et al, 2014)
