Transition to Racing (September to December, 2024)
On Saturdays we are offering an opportunity for sailors  to continue to develop their sailing skills with our club coach Gaurav.

For Sabots it will be morning coaching, then racing.  For F11s and 4.7s/70% course sailors, it will be integrated with the afternoon race.

Our aim is to build onwater confidence and boat handling skills while introducing racing skills.  We will have our RIBs on the water to support sailors.  

This program is free for Sep/Oct24 Learn-to-Sail graduates, but requires a co-payment (heavily subsidised by the Club) for existing sailors in the Sabot, F11 and ILCA 4.7 fleets.

Saturday coaching program is -

  9:45am           Arrive at Club & rig Sabots
  10:30am          Briefing from Coach Gaurav
  10:45am         Sabots on water for sail coaching 
  12:15pm         Back onshore for lunch

   12:30pm        Pre-race briefing for Sabots, F11s & 4.7s (upstairs)

  1:00pm           Sabot race commences (with coaching)
  2:00pm           Back onshore / short wrap up and presentation
 
2:10pm            Laser/ILCA 4.7 race start (with opt-in coaching)
  2:40pm           F11 Race starts (with opt-in coaching)
  3:30pm           On water F11/ILCA 4.7 Coaching finishes
  4-4:30             F11/ILCA 4.7 racing finishes
  6pm                 All class presentation

We encourage parents to assist their kids as much as possible, especially getting the boats out, rigging, unrigging and putting them away. We also encourage parents to spend time on the support boats (RIBs). This is not essential however we don’t have as many instructors as we did for Learn to Sail and assisting will get the kids more time on the water.  

For those sailing 2-up in the sabots it is helpful if your child has a sailing partner organized but not essential, just speeds up the process of getting on the water. We will come off the water around 12:15pm.  Sailors are welcome to have some lunch and then join in the afternoon racing starting from 1pm.
