Learn to Race - Friday Twilights (October 20 to November 10, 2023)
On these Fridays we will have the club open at 4:15pm. Our goal is that the boats will be rigged by 4:45 when we will have a quick briefing and try to be on the water by 5pm. The aim is generally to get more time on the water and build confidence and skills. We will have our RIBs on the water to support sailors.
We encourage parents to assist their kids as much as possible, especially getting the boats out, rigging, unrigging and putting them away. We also encourage you to spend time on the support boats (RIBs). This is not essential but we don’t have as many instructors as we did for Learn to Sail and assisting will get the kids more time on the water. For those sailing 2-up in the sabots it is helpful if your child has a sailing partner organized but not essential, just speeds up the process of getting on the water. We will come off the water around 6:15pm.
Finally, we will always fire up the barbecue at the end of the day (about 7pm) and you are welcome to finish the week having dinner on the deck. How it usually works is that you bring your own meat and a salad to share, some good Dad (or Mum, if they are quick) drives the barbecue and both the kids and parents make a few new friends.
Registering for each week will help us with resourcing. Please note Learn to Race is for children who attended the LC12ftSSC Start Sailing in December 2022, or January 2023.
