Activities available
Activity 1 - Water Safety Excursions – Facilitated by Life Saving Victoria
Cosy Corner beach, Torquay (Surf Coast)
About:
This excursion is suitable for individuals who can and cannot swim. The session will be facilitated by qualified staff from Life Saving Victoria, and will focus on important water safety messages to ensure your safety when visiting the Beach.

Students can expect to take part in sand-games and activities, water-based activities such as practise rescues, paddling on boards and swimming in life-jackets. At the conclusion of the excursion, students will have learnt how to:

Identify dangers such as rip currents

Identify the red and yellow flags
-
Identify the role of a lifeguard
-
Wear a lifejacket when swimming

Understand why you should never swim alone
Students will be transferred via Bus Coach to and from Torquay, with lunch and snacks provided on the day.
Activity 2 - Adult Learn to Swim Lessons (programs will run pending student interest)
In addition to the water safety excursions facilitated by Life Saving Victoria, students can also participate in adult learn to swim classes, facilitated by qualified swimming teachers. Lessons are conducted weekly for 30-45min, for a minimum of 5 weeks.
Students will focus on developing water safety knowledge swimming, and can expect to develop skill and competence in:

Survival skills; floating, treading water, survival strokes

Development of swimming strokes such as freestyle and breaststroke
