May update 2023

Published Wed 31 May 2023

Our senior men’s side has continued to show improvement, winning two of our last 3 matches and giving St. Joseph’s a fright in last Saturday’s match before going down by 11 points. We are now 2 and 4 from 6 matches as we head into the bye weekend off. Our reserves side has also had a win over St. Albans so far. Senior men’s football resumes on the 3 June with a home game against Colac. This should be a great game, so we encourage all our members and fans to head down to Bisinella Oval to support the teams.

Grading is complete for our senior women’s and girls’ and boys’ junior squads. We can report that Lara’s senior women, U/16 girls, U/14 girls and U/14 boys all have sides in Division 1 in their respective age groups, and our U/18 colts and U/16 boys have sides in Division 2. Several of those age groups also have second sides in other divisions. Congratulations to all those squads on their results so far.

Lara FNC held our annual Ladies Day in support of BCNA a couple of weeks ago during our home game against North Shore. It was sold out, and we can certainly say an entertaining day was had by all based on the noise and colour emanating from the social rooms. The day itself raised over $3,000 for breast cancer charity, which was a great result. Well done to all who planned the event.

This week has also seen our men’s team train with different junior boy’s age groups across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It was great to see our juniors mix with members of a side that we hope they will themselves play for in years to come. This leads nicely into the launch of our Junior Development Academy, with sessions expected to commence in early June. Applicants should keep an eye out for an email shortly with more details.
