June update 2023

Published Fri 30 Jun 2023

Our senior men’s side remains on 2 wins so far this season as the GFL heads into this week’s bye. We’ve played some good sides over the last few weeks and have seen the standard we need to reach to climb the ladder. Our reserves side is also battling away in search of their next win. We have had some bright news with milestones among senior and reserves players in recent weeks, including Dylan Jose (100 games), Daniel Weigl (100 games) and Sam Purdy (50 games).

Our senior women are doing very well, winning a couple of games recently against strong teams. This is a credit to a very young side that contains a number of players who would otherwise qualify for U19s. Congratulations to co-coaches John McKane and Darren Scott on your progress and we will look on with interest and hope as you strive for more success this year.

And Lara’s junior teams continue to represent the club well, logging some good wins in their respective divisions across the last few rounds.

We held our Sponsors’ Day at the club a couple of weeks back. Thanks to Dave and Karen Lindorff and Carol Stone for their work to present the day again this year and to acknowledge a very important group of supporters without whom we would struggle to field our sides. 2023’s day was a little different, offering attendees tastes from four different parts of the world. It was also a theme day for Peter Mac Foundation for genetic testing and research, for which we raised several hundred dollars from special raffles conducted across the event.

Don’t forget the junior section is running a Yobbo Lotto event on the 15th July at the club, beginning in the early evening after football has finished. See the Club Facebook page for more information.
