Last Saturday night saw the Football and Netball Sections hold our joint Winter Ball in the Captain’s Room at GMHBA Stadium. We’re sure everyone who came along had a fabulous night of wining, dining and dancing. Ticket sales were very strong with over 170 people attending, proving that holding events in town seems to be a popular move. The room had a great view over the ground, just to top it off. And our short but sharp auction of 4 items, along with the raffle, raised nearly $7,000 shared across the Football and Netball sections. Well done to Karen Lindorff, Carol Stone, Di Van Doren, Mel Verity and Lisa Cook for organising the night, Josh Fulton for organising the bus to the Geelong Hotel afterwards, Lou Goodwin for acting as MC and Nathan Loutit from Lara Real Estate for conducting the auction. Thanks also to our auction sponsors for their donated goods and services.

The Football Section will hold our annual Past Players Day at our home game against Bell Park on 10 August. This year the day will expand to include long-time supporters of the club who may not have pulled on the boots for us. See Bernie Walker for tickets.

Peter Kelly is about to be honoured for his past roles at both Lara SC, where he’s significant contributed as a player and administrator, and St Albans FNC, where he played in the 1970s. St. Albans and Lara will compete for the Peter Kelly Cup on 6 July at Concept Oval (St. Albans home ground) in a standalone game.The combined scores from Seniors and Reserves football matches, along with A and B grade netball matches, will decide the winner of the Cup. St. Albans will also run a Sportsman’s Day with David ‘Ox’ Schwarz as MC. Check out St. Albans social media pages if you’d like tickets. We’d like to see as many LSC supporters as possible come along to cheer on LFNC and win the Cup for Peter.

The Football Section has been assigned the Bar rights for the 2024 GFNL senior finals. This means that we will need plenty of volunteers who hold an RSA to help man the bars and serve our customers. If you can help – even for 1 day – please contact Carol at the club or email admin@larasc.com.au and register your interest. We plan to hold an RSA accreditation evening for those who need to get one. We will need all the help we can get for this lucrative opportunity that only comes roundonce every 12 years! Please help if you can.
