April update 2024

Published Tue 30 Apr 2024

All sides are now engaged in the 2024 season. Our senior women are 3 games in, our senior men 2 games in, and our junior boys and girls also having played 1 or 2 grading rounds. We’ve seen some great results so far, with many sides recording wins along the way.

After a disappointing start to the season against North Shore, our senior men showed what they are capable of against South Barwon last week. Although we led at every change, South Barwon proved too strong in the end, winning by 17 points. Our men’s reserves side had a hard-fought win against North Shore, but found the going much tougher against South Barwon.

Our senior women are doing very well again this season, despite starting slowly by having to forfeit the first grading round. They’ve since had good wins against Barwon Heads and Anglesea, which are both sides we would expect to be fairly strong this season. Numbers are also stronger, but we can always do with more players.

All of our senior squads will meet Grovedale in our annual ‘Spirit of ANZAC’ clash this Sunday (28 April) at Bisinella Oval. This is our first men’s home game of the season, so we’re hoping for a big crowd on a day packed with matches. In addition, we have swapped around the program this year, playing the senior men in the afternoon and the senior women in the following twilight match.

Our U/14s will kick off the day at 8.30, followed by our U18 boys at 10.00,reserves at midday, senior men at 2.20 and senior women at 5.00. We will also have our traditional commemorative activities, including the Walk from the Gates (assemble at the Walker’s Road gates from 12.00) and our formal ANZAC ceremony at 2.05.

Tom King and the team from K-Rock will broadcast the senior men’s game as well as pre-match discussion. Importantly, you cannot listen to the broadcast via traditional FM radio. Instead, you will find it available by going to krockfootball.live.
