While KSYC is managed on a day-to-day basis by an Executive Committee appointed by ballot at the AGM, it is administered by three trustees charged with upholding the ethos and purpose of the organisation.
Keelan Govender
Keelan is passionate about building opportunities for sailing and drives to achieve excellence in anything he is involved in. It's no use doing something if you are not going to do it properly. He readily encourages inter-club events and does what he can to support teams participating in provincial and national events. The current chairman of KZN Sailing and a member of the board of SA Sailing, he is also a member of multiple yacht clubs in South Africa and regularly travels nationally and internationally to gain knowledge as to how other sailing clubs operate and learn from what they do well. Heavily invested in the future of sailing, he is the owner of multiple dinghies and keelboats but prefers to crew with friends socially.
Angela Harding
Although she started sailing an Oppie at the age of 11 at the Pretoria sailing club, the competition bug bit when she was 14, whereafter she raced under the Noordvaal Squad on Oppies and then Dabchicks. She was awarded a bursary from the Ocean Racing Trust to achieve her RYA and SAS Coastal Skippers license by 20. Since then, she has sailed a plethora of dinghies and keelboats both nationally and internationally. In 2019, Angela became the first female skipper to participate in the Inhaca Race off Richards Bay, from where she regularly sails their Lavranos 41, Amber 1 with her family.
Clinton Gauld
Clinton has never encountered a thing he could not race. Dinghies, jetskies, bikes, carts, cars and yachts. He first learned to sail at the age of 9 and returned to the sailing fraternity in 2019 when he bought a Halcat. His fleet quickly grew to include the L34 Money Penny which he skippered to Division B Champion at the 2022 MSC Week, a Dart18, and now recently the Jarkan 38 Argo FY. Passionate about developing the skill of sailing, Clinton regularly works with the youth to improve their skill sets.
