2. 👥 Roles & Responsibilities

All Members & Participants

  • Report any injury or medical incident immediately.
  • Stay calm and assist if trained and able.

First Aid Officer (designated per session/event)

  • Provide immediate care.
  • Retrieve and use the First Aid Kit and AED (located in the shed).
  • Call emergency services if required.
  • Record incident in the Incident Register.

Event/Session Coordinator

  • Delegate someone to meet emergency services at the entrance.
  • Ensure the area is safe and clear.
  • Notify next of kin if appropriate.
  • Complete post-incident procedures.

4. 🚑 In Case of a Medical Emergency

1. Assess the Scene for Danger

Make sure it’s safe before providing assistance.

2. Follow the ABCDE Approach (St John Ambulance)

  • A – Airway: Clear the airway if needed. Use head tilt–chin lift if unconscious.
  • B – Breathing: Check if they’re breathing. Begin CPR if not.
  • C – Circulation: Check pulse, bleeding, and skin color. Control bleeding if necessary.
  • D – Disability: Use AVPU: Alert, Voice, Pain, Unresponsive.
  • E – Exposure/Environment: Check for injuries, protect from heat/cold.

3. Call 000

Provide:

  • Nature of the emergency
  • Location: 54 Marsh St, Kempsey NSW 2440
  • Patient’s condition

4. Provide Ongoing First Aid

Only if trained and it is safe to do so.

5. Guide Emergency Services

Send someone to the entrance to direct responders to the casualty.

6. Notify Family or Emergency Contact

If known and appropriate.

5. 📋 Post-Incident Actions

  • Complete an Incident Report Form within 24 hours.
  • Review the response and identify any improvements.
  • Follow up with the injured person.
  • Debrief with involved members if necessary.

6. 🛡️ Prevention & Preparedness

  • Encourage hydration and warm-ups before play.
  • Regularly check and restock the First Aid Kit.
  • Promote First Aid and CPR training for members.
  • Display this plan clearly at the venue.
