Judo WA Dan Grading Opportunity – Saturday, 30 November 2024
The State Grading Committee is pleased to announce a dan grading opportunity for eligible members within the Judo WA community. This event will take place on Saturday, 30 November 2024, with the exact location to be confirmed closer to the date.
Application Criteria: To apply, candidates must:
- Be a current financial member of Judo Australia, with appropriate time in grade relevant to the grade being sought.
- Fully complete the relevant National Grading Policy Application form (available at Judo Australia Gradings).
- Obtain support and a signature from their head club coach on the application form.
- Submit the completed application to the Grading Commission Chair via email at grading@judowa.org.au.
- Complete the application process and make the necessary payment.
Applications will be reviewed based on National Grading Policy criteria, and successful candidates will be invited to participate in this grading opportunity.
Kodokan 1st Dan Option: Applicants may also choose to apply for their Kodokan 1st Dan, which incurs an additional cost of approximately $165 AUD ($110 USD for Kodokan 1st Dan, including a $55 USD membership fee). While this is recommended for applicants for their Judo Australia 1st Dan, it is not a requirement.
For those applying for 2nd Dan and higher, we anticipate a unique opportunity in early 2025 when the Kodokan may visit Perth. Candidates will then have the chance to sit a Kodokan Dan Grading examination, allowing them to have their Judo Australia grade ratified by the Kodokan.
Important Reminders:
- Club coaches are responsible for signing off on grading applications.
- Applications must be fully complete before submission.
- The grading panel will not research eligibility on behalf of candidates; this responsibility lies with the applicant.
