This Friday, the 16th of August, he passed away surrounded by loved ones.

Max started Judo aged 22 has been involved in Judo for the past 63 years.

He was asked to join WYC Judo club in 1980 when Postal Institute (Judo Club) closed its doors. And for the following 43 years he coached at Western Youth Centre Judo Club. He had a close relationship to the then head coach Percy Drummond.

During his time at WYC Max coached the junior players for the first few years. Then both Max and Percy decided to coach the South Australian state team, and they continued to coach our State players for 11 years.

Max has made an impact in many Judokas lives from junior players through to black belts.

We remember his dedication to us all and Judo. He was the embodiment of Judo for Life.

He touched many parents’ and children’s heart and contributed to many people’s personal and sporting development. We will be forever grateful.
