Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club is a family oriented, friendly club. It is located at Boreen Point on the shores of a large saltwater lake on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The predominant sea breezes provide some of the best flat water sailing conditions in the world
. The inaugural meeting of The Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club was held on the 12th of February,1946.
The Club is owned and operated by its members who over the years have volunteered their time to ensure that it runs smoothly and efficiently.
It conducts a number of annual regattas including National and State Championships for numerous class associations as well as the well known Allboats Regatta in August, Cat Challenge in November and MonoMasters in December. The Easter Regatta is normally the climax of the sailing season prior to a winter recess. Club racing is also conducted each weekend throughout the season with a variety of classes from trailer sailers to catamarans and monohulls.
Beginner sailing courses are conducted each Sunday morning. Visitors to the Club are most welcome as many who have attended from all over Australia and other countries will attest. Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club Inc is widely recognised as an excellent venue for small boat sailing.
