Illawarra International Judo Camp
22 – 23 January 2021
The 23rd annual Illawarra International Judo Camp is on again for state and national level competition athletes. This years training camp is targeted for Cadets through to Seniors looking for serious randori to prepare for the 2021 competition season (no Junior Program).
The venue is the International Judo Centre, Wyllie Road, Ian McClelland Park, Kembla Grange, Wollongong.
Note: Covid-19 protocols for January will dictate any caps on numbers for sessions.
The program is as follows:
Friday 22 January:
6:30pm – 9:00pm Randori Session
Saturday 23 January:
9:00am - 12:00noon Double Elimination Ladder competition & King of the Mat Club Cup
12:00pm - 1:50pm Lunch
1:50pm - 2:00pm Group Photo
2:00pm – 5:00pm Randori session
7:00pm - 10:00pm Social evening at Shell Cove Links
Given our desire to maintain the quality of the camp, registration is by pre-entry at www.judonsw.com.au Numbers will be limited
Cost: $50 per person for the weekend, or $30 per day. Competition entry for Saturday is included in the camp fee.
The camp is aimed at competition athletes aspiring to compete in state and national kyu grade competition, national and international competition. This camp has run successfully over many years by inviting quality competition players who freely share their expertise combined with solid randori sessions. It is a great way to start the New Year under a tried and tested format. Knowledge and skills are shared openly to all on the mat. We teach, practise and train together, with the aim of providing individuals the opportunity to improve their Judo skills and competition performance.
Competition information
Judo NSW has sanctioned Saturday’s competition and points awarded from winning bouts count towards your next grade, as per the National Grading Policy, Section 6.5, Senior Kyu Grades Contest Points Table.
Saturday – Ladder Competition
All competitors will be lined up light to heavyweight and in order of grade. Beginning with the lighter weights, the first two athletes fight with the winner remaining on the mat and the loser moving to the second mat for their second “repechage” bout. You keep fighting until you lose a total of two fights.
If the athlete wins 4 fights in total they are awarded a Gold medal, 3 wins silver medal, 2 wins bronze medal.
