2022 Australian Championship - Gosford Sailing Club - NSW
For the first time in two years, The International Contender class was able to run the National Championships, despite COVID. This was possible through the grace of Western Australia, who supported the regatta in their own absence, held for the first time at Gosford Sailing Club in NSW. 24 boats made it to the venue, which was a major achievement for the class under the circumstances. Whilst the last day was decimated by no wind, the preceding 4 days saw breeze ranging from 8-10 knots through to 20-25. Normally that would give all sailors a chance to shine in their preferred conditions. This time, however, Matthew Mulder demonstrated his full range capability and won another championship in style. Mark Bulka matched his consistency, but Mulder was just better this time, despite being "Socially Distant".
