The UTAS Honey Badgers Water Polo Club provides a fun and safe environment for all players, coaches, parents and members.
CHILD AND YOUTH SAFETY
We have a strong commitment to providing a positive, supportive and safe environment for children and young people.
All members of the club are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people under the age of 18 years who engage with our club and with the sport of water polo.
All of the directors on the club’s board, coaches, managers, and members – regardless of their age - who may be assisting with club activities agree to and sign the UTAS Water Polo Child Safe Code of Conduct Agreement if they are a "Person in Position of Authority".
Our Child and Youth Safe Standards are detailed below.
KEY PRINCIPLE
All Child and Youth Safe Standards are to be applied in an environment that ensures the right to safety for all children and young people.
CULTURE
· Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in organisational leadership, governance, and culture.
· Children and young people are informed about their rights and, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.
· Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.
· Equity is upheld and diverse needs are respected in policy and in practice.
PROCESSES
· People working with children and young people are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice.
· Processes to respond To complaints and concerns are child focused.
· Staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training.
ENVIRONMENT
· Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing, while minimising the opportunity for harm.
· Implementation of Child and Youth safe standards is regularly reviewed and improved.
· Policies, procedures document how the organisation is safe for children and young people.
If a parent, carer, member of our community, or "Person in Position of Authority" sees any behaviour that causes concern it should be reported to the Club President and Member Protection Information Officer in accordance with the Reportable Conduct Information Sheet.
