Child Safe Hockey

Hockey Central Vic (HCV) enforces the Child Safety standards in line with Hockey Victoria (HV).

Hockey Central Vic is committed to providing inclusive environments for children and young people to participate and engage in the sport of hockey in Victoria.

  • Hockey Central Vic will actively work to listen to, respect and empower children, and to encourage their participation in hockey;
  • Hockey Central Vic has established policies and procedures that seek to protect children from harm, and will take all allegations and concerns very seriously and will respond to them consistently, in line with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Hockey Central Vic is committed to regularly training and educating association members and volunteers about child harm risks.
  • Hockey Central Vic is committed to educating members of our association about the importance of child safety practices, policies and processes.

Hockey Central Vic accesses the Hockey Australia Educational Resources under the Safe Hockey Hub.

Hockey Central Vic can also access VicSport’s range of resources and templates to support Associations and Clubs: https://vicsport.com.au/child-safe-sport.

Reporting

  • If a person is concerned about an immediate risk to a child’s safety, the person must phone Victorian Police on “000” as soon as practicable.
  • If a person suspects that a child is at risk of, or being, harmed, the person may report the belief to Hockey Central Vic Safe Hockey Officer who will guide you through the next steps in addressing your concerns.
