Seniors & Masters

Hornsby District Athletics Club offers a vibrant and inclusive environment for Seniors (age 20-29) and Masters (age 30+) athletes, providing opportunities to compete, stay fit, and enjoy the camaraderie of the athletics community.

Our Philosophy

Our goal for Seniors & Masters athletes is to promote lifelong participation in athletics, emphasising health, fitness, and enjoyment. Whether you are returning to the sport after a break, continuing a lifelong passion, or trying athletics for the first time, we offer a supportive and encouraging environment.

Training and Competitions

Seniors & Masters athletes at Hornsby can participate in regular training sessions tailored to their needs and abilities. General Fitness Training is held on Mondays at 4.30pm and 5.30pm. During summer months (September to March) squad training operates throughout the week.  See Training tab for more details.

We encourage participation in various competitions throughout the year, including:

·       Monthly interclub: These casual club based competitions are held at Ern Holmes Oval, Pennant Hills on a Thursday weeknight every month for all levels, aged 17+. The emphasis is on fun and participation in a supportive environment. Snacks and drinks are regularly enjoyed after competition.

·       ANSW Treloar Shield Events: These casual, team-based competitions are held on Saturday afternoons from September to December. Open to athletes of all levels, these events provide a relaxed yet competitive atmosphere.

·       NSW State Masters events: Masters athletes have the opportunity to compete in NSW Masters events, State Relays, State Combined Events and NSW State Championship, usually held in February or March each year.

·       Australian Masters Championships and World Masters Championships.

Community and Collaboration

We foster a strong sense of community and collaboration, welcoming Masters athletes from other clubs to join us for team events. By registering Hornsby as your secondary club, you can compete in our teams while retaining your primary club affiliation. This approach strengthens our community and provides more opportunities for all athletes.
