Last Saturday 7th October marked Game 1 of the 2023/2024 season for the Greystanes Giants. This season, we are fielding 11 teams. Our School Girls set the pace in the season opening game at 8am against the Quaker's Hill Pirates, winning 10-1.

The season start marks an exciting time for new, returning players and parents alike. For many, there has been a long wait for softball to return. After a successful 2022/2023 season with many of our Giants teams becoming grand finalists and premiers, we are positive about our return to International Peace Park and Stanhope Gardens Reserve.

Our under 10s and under 12s mixed teams took up the 9.30am and 11am timeslots with many young, new, beaming faces to the sport. The under 10s played the Wenty Waratahs and the under 12s played the Quaker's Hill Pirates. We are very proud of our youngest club member's attittudes on the field and how quickly they've learned the sport, and translated their new skills onto the softball diamond.

Youth mixed then led the charge for our mixed cohort at 11am, capturing a win. Did you know we have 6 junior and senior mixed teams at the Greystanes Giants? We are a diverse and inclusive club at the Giants and we understand that is why our mixed teams have proven very popular in the Greater Western Sydney region.

Our afternoon softball games were played by our senior Ladies B and B-Reserve sides as well as our mixed B and C teams. All our senior mixed sides and our Ladies B grade teams took home compelling wins, which is a strong return to the diamonds after 7 months off! Our Mixed C Red team, coached by Dave Gerardis beat Blacktown Workers Red 16-0.

With 10 teams taking the field over the weekend, we've seen an explosion of numbers since last season, giving us the confidence that we are the t-ball and softball club of choice in Western Sydney for many members and parents. While our numbers are strong this early in the season, we are still calling for players in our Ladies B Grade, Under 12 Mixed and Under 14 Girls softball teams. We welcome players of all ages (5+) and experience levels to play with us - please get in contact to discuss which teams you might want to play on.
