Eagles Softball Club

History

Eagles Softball Club (ESC) is a member of Cumberland Nepean Softball Association.

Our players come from all areas of Western Sydney.

The club is operated by a committee and assisted in many essential ways by its members and friends.

In 1976, a few wives of Wentworthville Grantham Eagles Baseball Club decided they wanted their own team.

They formed the softball club Eagles and in the 1977/78 season and the wives, girlfriends and daughters became the first players and officials registered to play with Seven Hills Eagles at Cumberland Nepean Softball Association.

Terry Adderton was then President of the baseball club and gave his full support of a softball Club to be formed with Pat Fortune the First President and Ron Borwick as Vice President. The men were "coersed" to umpire, which in itself was a major task as they didn't know how different softball rules were. They soon learnt!

Memorable things happened during those years but the main thing to remember is that during all of these years, the Club has always remained a friendly place to play and many lifetime friends have been made. Many Eagles members have joined the CNSA Executive in various positions and also represented at State and National Levels.

Over the years Eagles has evolved, with many different names into the club we are now.

1977-1980 – Seven Hills Eagles

1981-1990 – Wentworthville Grantham Eagles

1991-1993 – Eagles

1993-1995 - Seven Hills-Toongabbie Youth RSL Eagles

1995-2021 – Grantham Eagles Softball Club

Although many differences to the first year, we are still a family heart at club with a team for everyone and anyone.
