The first event for 2024 will be a movie night to see The Boys in the Boat. For those who haven’t read the book it was both inspirational and provided an insight into the core of being a rower but more importantly what it means to be part of a crew. It also stars Aussie actor Joel Edgerton.
Hoyts Cinemas at Stafford has been selected as the venue primarily due to the abundance of free parking and their willingness to support the club by offering us our own cinema for the night. The Stafford City Tavern is situated in the same complex which will provide us a place to gather for a drink and something to eat before or after the movie depending on what time we choose our session. At this stage you should block out between 6pm and 9pm, and more precise details will follow.
Wednesday 24th January is the proposed date and we would ask that you complete the attached survey providing an indication of your intention to attend and how many tickets you would like for the night, once we have an indication of numbers we will make all associated bookings and send out formal invitations. Tickets are $25.00 per person of which $13 comes back to the club rather than to Hoyts Cinemas. The cinema capacity is 50 seats, so if we can fill all seats then we will have tipped $650 into the Capital Fund. If we are oversubscribed, tickets will be allocated based on the timestamp of your survey response, so get in quick!! At the time of posting (30 December at 9pm) there are only 11 spots left!
