GOSFORD SAILING CHAMPIONSHIP

Competition Goals:

1. Offer a training opportunity for members of all our fleets by having a combined team approach
2. Build cross fleet camaraderie by mixing the team members.
3. Utilise the club and Magics in April (once the main season has concluded)
4. Provide variety and opportunities for our Junior sailors to keep them interested and have something to aim for in their training programme

Timing

     Entries open                                                 1/4/2024

     Teams selected                                          15/4/2024

    Competition Starts                                  20 & 21 April 2024 One Day – may be 2-3 heats depending on numbers

Classes of Entries:

• Team of 4 Sailing Magic Keel Boats
  • Each team has at least one of each of the following
    • One Junior (under 18)
    • At least one male
    • At least one female

• • Form your own team or go in the draw to form a team with other entrants.

RACE FORMAT

Events include a round-robin Qualifying Series

Teams rotate through the boats in each flight so that each team competes against other teams and sails in every boat.

The top 4 teams from the Qualifying Series compete in the Final Series.

Both series use a short course, stadium format which includes:

• Up to 45 races per event
• 3-4 races per hour
• short course (12 – 15 min) windward leeward
• Fully umpired fleet racing
• Identical one-design Magics
• On-water boat change
