Mixed Teams, Mixed Weather At 2024 Gosford Sailing Championship

Over the weekend the GSC Sailing Academy hosted a Pilot Regatta, the GSC Sailing Championship. This event sought to build cross fleet camaraderie by integrating a mixed team approach. Each team had one Junior (aged under 18), one male and one female onboard. This mixed criterion encouraged teamwork, as crews worked together in new roles using the Club’s Magic 25 Sportsboats. Weather conditions kept both the sailors and Race Committee on their toes, with conditions ranging from 0-25 knots across the Championship. Congratulations to the winning team ‘Gunnelbums’ comprising of Rob Hook, Russell Stanton, Justine Ella and Eddie Cleverly. Overall, the event was incredibly successful and serves as a good precedent for future GSC Regattas. Next season GSC will look to run 3-4 Sailing Championship Regattas and invite sailors from other Clubs to take part. Thank you to all the fantastic Volunteers who helped out during the event.
