Start Powerboating with Gosford Sailing Club! Our next course (theory component) will run on Thursday 17th December from 6:30-9:00pm, with the practical date to be advised.

Gosford Sailing Club offers Australian Sailing accredited ‘Start Powerboating’ Courses for people interested in owning and/or being in charge of a recreational powerboat! The Start Powerboating Program introduces skills ranging from practical driving skills, trip planning, boat maintenance, safety equipment, to the correct procedure of dealing with emergency situations. The lower age limit for training is 12 years old, however, Australian Sailing recommends anyone under the age of 16 to be under the supervision of an adult when operating a powerboat. Following this course you will have sufficient skills and knowledge to safely skipper a small powerboat. You will also receive a Start Powerboating Certificate.

Course Overview
Your powerboating pathway begins here, introducing you to practical driving skills, trip planning, boat maintenance, safety equipment and dealing with emergency situations. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to drive a powerboat, following the course you will have sufficient skills and knowledge to skipper a small powerboat. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Powerboating completion certificate.
