This course has passed.
You should come away with the knowledge and confidence to sail a small boat competently and for those that wish, you can progress to larger yachts or participate as crew on a racing yacht. The course includes a minimum of twelve practical lessons and three theory lessons. It includes Australian Sailing and Gosford Sailing Club memberships as well as course completion certificates. This course is an excellent way to become more involved in sailing and meet other sailors at a similar skill level. After completing this course sailors can join Twilight racing on Wednesday Afternoons.
Participants must be Water confident, Minimum 16 years old and Reasonably Mobile before commencing.

Course Overview
The first step on the Keelboat pathway introduces you to the basics of sailing on a small keelboat, including boat handling, safety and sailing theory. In the combined course, you will also experience and develop the theory and practical skills to confidently take control on the helm.

Water confident.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a keelboat. Learn the basics of crewing and helming, whilst staying relatively dry! All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Crewing and Start Helming completion certificate.
