Course information
This course covers the basics of Dinghy Sailing, specifically designed for kids in the 7 to 15 age bracket. Participants will learn the theory and practical aspects of sailing a dinghy.
Goolwa Sailing Club's hugely popular course is a great fun introduction to the sport of sailing. All equipment is supplied including the PFDs ("life jackets"), helmets and boats. Dress to get wet - bring your own wetsuits / spray jackets / warm clothing depending on the weather, and long sleeves, sunscreen and hats of course.
The course runs for 3 hours x 4 days over morning or afternoon sessions and are instructed by Qualified Australian Sailing Instructors.
Students who have completed this course multiple times are encouraged to move forward in the sport (Goolwa Sailing Club offers ongoing coaching and racing programs) and may be unenrolled (following communications) in the event the courses are overbooked.
We note that the course is designed for ages 7 to 15, and works best when it's kids sailing with kids! Adults wishing to learn to sail are encouraged to contact the club at gsc.sail.training@gmail.com to enquire about suitable options.

$300.00
Cancellation 14 days prior course starting may incur a 20% cancellation fee. Cancellation within 14 days will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
Course Overview
This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
