Event 1 Details
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
G.R.Y.C. CRUISE-RALLY 2ND NOV.2024
Round 1 of 4 Cruises - Currency Creek
- Cruise will depart GRYC 1330 hours
- John Tonkin on his Roberts 25 “Drifter” will be flotilla leader.
- Other cruisers/yachts are welcomed and encouraged to cruise with John, in company, Rear Commodore Rob Robinson will be on “Drifter”
- Boats must register with Club Manager – Sarah to be included in the point score ( New Torqeedo Electric Outboard will be the Prize at end of the season).
- Points will be awarded for attendance and observation skills during the event.
- If you have not registered you are still welcome to attend and enjoy!
- Racers are also encouraged to cruise up Currency Creek and be involved in festivities!
- The destination is the Skewes family dock in Currency Creek.
- PLEASE TAKE CAUTION and NOTE!
Powerlines in Currency Creek
Boats with taller mast must stop at earlier dock (which will be indicated)
- Larger boats to dock at the Community Dock before the powerlines
- A shuttle service will be operated to move boat owners and guest to Skewes family dock area for festivities.
- Boats are encouraged to enjoy and stay the night in the tranquil environment.
- VHF radio 72 will be operating channel during the cruise.
- People who cannot attend in their boats may drive to the site and camp/stay/or enjoy the event.
Instructions for vehicles driving to the Skewes family camp site :
Travel to Strathalbyn on Goolwa-Strath road – OPPOSITE the Mt Compass turnoff (on lhs)
Turn right onto the road, the road will eventuallyl deviate to the left- do not turn, but continue straight on to gravel track.
Pass through 3 paddocks to you eventually arrive at the camping site (dock close by).
Any member with sail or power boat is welcome to have a chance to win this fantastic prize. All you have to do is attend all 4 events and score the highest points overall for particaption, games and observation activities along the way.
Event 1 November 2nd
Start at 13.00 at GRYC and cruise up to David and Tricia’s Skewes private dock at Currency Creek for a BYO BBQ . Stay Overnigt on your boat or cruise home if you have to.
There will be a fun point scoring observation game along the way to score your points with.
Event 2 November 30th
Start at 13.00 at GRYC and sail or power boat up to Ducks Hospital at Clayton Bay. This one has a French Theme , BYO BBQ food, games of Pétanque.
Event 3 January 4th
Start at 13.00 at GRYC
