Gleneliz Calisthenics & Dance Club

Gleneliz Calisthenics Club is based in the Northern suburbs with our studio located in Edinburgh North.

Gleneliz was first created in 1961 as a self-funded and committee run club and continues to this day, teaching and sharing not only the technical side but also the passion involved to our students.

Club History

Our club, Gleneliz, derives its name from “Glen” (from Glenys Anderson, who started the club over 60 years ago) and “Eliz” (from Elizabeth, the district where classes have been held since the club started).

Over the past 60 years our club has been represented by many of hundreds of participants in National and State Teams, Police Tattoo concerts, displays in shopping centres, nursing homes, school fetes etc. Additionally Gleneliz participate annually in the Playford Christmas pageants. Our members compete in two State Competitions held each year at the Royalty Theatre in May and August and perform 2 concerts to family and friends, Mid-Year and at the end of the year.

For many years, our club has run “Gleneliz Solo and Duo Competitions”, a three day event held in early October where competitors come from all over the state to compete. The event has always been very successful.
