The Giants presentation was held on Sunday 24th March and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on a fantastic season, well done to all award winners, and thanks to everyone who volunteered, donated or otherwise worked hard behind the scenes to make 2023/24 so successful and enjoyable for our club.

 

Speaking of volunteers, a special mention to Kat (Veg) from Keystone Sporting Solutions who behind the scenes put her time into surveying our members and developing a fantastic manual to streamline the planning and management of our canteen duties in the future. This will maximise our fundraising potential and minimise the stress on coordinators and volunteers. She has done an outstanding job and it is areas like this where members and families are able to use their own particular skill sets to make Giants better for everybody, in ways that may not otherwise have been thought of. Thank you, Veg.

 

It is also well worth noting that even though some of our fantastic juniors have to move on from our country association to achieve great things, we try to maintain an atmosphere that always welcomes them back and is proud of their achievements, and for the Sutton family this certainly rings true this season - not only have Tahlia, Sienna and Matt continued to further their respective playing and coaching careers throughout this season, they have also been the reason we have diamonds to play on! They have been out during the week every round, marking out the lines and making sure that they are still involved and contributing to GDSA where they can. Their dedication to the sport and to our club is a major factor in why we will always be some of their loudest cheerleaders and we wish them all the absolute best of luck for their upcoming USA trip. Huge thanks to Equipped Civil for coming on board at the beginning of the season for two years as a Club Partner meaning that we could purchase our brilliant new banner and flags which help us stand out from anywhere on the grounds, and also fund those members who are working towards improving their officials skill sets in turn boosting Giants collective knowledge and stocks of scorers, umpires and coaches.

 

Congratulations to Robyn Wheeler, Pam Sims and Helen Villis who achieved their scoring accreditations, and to Karen and Dannielle Kenny who are also on the path to achieve theirs. Alongside some skills clinics for players, we will also continue with our upskilling program initiatives throughout the off-season for all members who expressed interest in learning to coach, umpire and score, so that we can hit the ground running for next season.
