We are excited to kick the season off - they've already been running preseason trainings but we’d like to formally introduce our coaching team for this season. All attended a pre-season meeting and training session on Thursday evening where consistent expectations and goals were set across the club, opportunities and resources to develop coaching and playing skills were discussed, and they can’t wait to hit the diamond and put everything into practice.
Taking on her first coaching appointment is Issie with the t-ballers - we love to see the older junior players stepping into this facet of the game and Issie will be an asset to the club and the t-ball kids with her calm, kind approach and willingness to teach.
The first of the two Brookes is back in the t-ball program to mentor Issie and provide a ‘mum voice’ as required, plus lending 28 years of experience across many levels of the sport, beginning her own coaching journey at 14 years old so very enthusiastic about the next generation coming through. Brooke will also whilst injured be taking the Div 1 team which consists of many young Under 17 players who are up in the senior divisions this season with a nice mixture of older experienced players as well.
Jumping in to also work with Div 1 (and also injured) is Veg - a wealth of experience and knowledge not only about softball but also travels the state helping develop sporting clubs everywhere with governance, volunteer retention and coaching. Veg is an asset to any club and we are super excited to have her back in the coaching ranks this season.
Tahlia Sutton and Tiahna Staker are some names we announce a lot celebrating their playing achievements - with multiple representative accolades including Tahlia playing in the USA in July and both girls currently training with the SA Under 18 Squad and playing in the Adelaide competition, we are beyond excited to have them put their hands up to continue supporting and developing their grassroots club and coach our Under 14’s
Ably assisting the Under 14’s is the second of our Brookes in a team manager role and coaching duties where schedules require it. With a long family association with softball we’ve been grateful to have Brooke with us the last few seasons, including coaching the GDSA U14 Boys at the State Championships last season.
A huge welcome to everyone - have a fantastic season!
