February Floods Cause Havoc

Published Thu 28 Apr 2022

February 28, saw 701.8mm of rainfall fall up river of Lismore in the Rosebank/Upper Coppers Creek catchment with only one way to go - Lismore.  With a river height of 14.4 meters, homes, business and sporting communities were inundated with water resulting in destruction unimagable.

The home of FNC Softball and Baseball was severely impacted.

The newly completeted facility, know as Albert Park Baseball/Softball Complex, was left with very little to salvage.

With the Softball season cut short, it was the losses of our newspaper clippings, certificates and minute books being a mess resulting in seventhy years of history been throw out.   This was the hardest part of the clean up, as these items cannot be replaced and was devasting to our officials.

The one thing Lismore and the surrounding area is know for - it's resilience.

FNC Softball is already looking to the 2022/23 season with strategies in place in the event Albert Park not been ready to play on.  The Committee is looking at grants to replace damaged  playiing gear and ground equipment.
