Far North Coast Hockey are proposing a new water storage reservoir development which will increase water storage from a maximum of 150,000 litres to in excess of 400,000 litres.
The facility in Goonellabah currently has two water filled synthetic surfaces and utilises a combination of harvested water and mains water.
The new development would see the current plastic tanks, with a capacity of 150,000 litres, replaced with part inground concrete tanks with a much larger capacity.
These improvements would have a positive financial impact on the Association and its clubs, reduce maintenance on the system and tanks and the environmental impact is significant.
Current calculations suggest that the catchment of the facility is unlimited, with over 15,000 square metres of catchment area which is further enhanced by runoff from the Goonellabah Workers Sports Club and drainage from other areas.
The estimates suggest that 1mm of rain equates to 15,000 litres of run off, 10mm equates to 150,000 litres and 20mm of rain would provide in excess of 300,000 litres to the facility at any one time.
