This morning at 10.00 am at the Far North Coast Hockey Centre; the Federal Member for Page Mr Kevin Hogan announced that Far North Coast Hockey has been successful in their application to The Building Better Regions Funds for the development of a second field at Goonellabah.
The federal government will be contributing $764,478.00 towards the $1,528,956.00 project. There needs to be a deed of Agreement signed and once that is signed we hope to start works immediately the hockey season is over. Our Project Schedule indicates work commencing 02-10-2017 and completing 23-02-2018 but that depends on the Deed of Agreement being signed. FNC Hockey submitted their first letter about the second field in July 2007 so over many years people have contributed in some way. I want to acknowledge some people that without them this project would not be happening:
· The Hockey Community at large, in particular those that attended this morning
· Our Board of the day and those before, especially Chris Clark for developing our Business Case
· Our Executive of the day and those before, in particular Shez Napper for her invaluable assistance in submitting the application
· The Lismore and District Sports Association that developed into the Policy Advisory Group for Sport and Recreation especially Cheryl Amor, Steve Mackney, Lyn Larsen and Neil Marks whose support was pivotal
· James Voght Community Services Officer Sport & Recreation Lismore City Council whom without, this opportunity would not have arisen
· Tony Duffy Manager Major Recreation and Cultural Facilities Lismore City Council whom without, this opportunity would not have arisen
· Lismore Council Members in particular Councillors Neil Marks, Gianpiero Battista and Isaac Smith for supporting us in the approval processes
· Lismore City Council Finance Manager Rino Santin
· Tony Riordan – Riordan and Associates
· Steven Fletcher – Fletcher and Associates
· Jo McKellar – Destination Research
· Kevin Franey – TNR Accountants
· All those who have contributed in some way for this achievement
Today marks a new horizon for Hockey on the Far North Coast and will give us the Status, Standing and opportunities that we so richly deserve.
