High Profile Coaching Staff
The 2018-19 program will again be led by Hockey NSW Pathway Manager Richard Willis and we will have as part of the coaching team this year’s program a range of Kookaburra and Hockeyroos athletes. The program will also focus on areas identified for improvement from the Australian U15 and U18 Championships.
Sports Card Individual Players Plans (IPP)
All participants of this year’s COD for U13s and U15s will receive an Individual Player Plan which will be provided after the Regional Challenge via an Athlete Sports Card at no additional cost. The Sports Card can be used to promote individual athletes via a range of media.
The IPP is designed in consultation with National and Hockey NSW accredited coaches, the IPP will outline areas of performance and areas requiring development for each athlete. This will allow athletes to focus on specific elements of their game and continue to improve their skills for the duration of the 2018-19 hockey season and beyond.
Specialist Goal Keeping Sessions
As in previous years, goal keepers will be catered for throughout and two sessions focusing specifically on goal keeping skills will be held during the summer months for the relevant COD participants. The date for these sessions is scheduled for Lithgow on Saturday 24th November 8am to 12 noon and Port Macquarie on Sunday 2nd December 8am to 12 noon. Only athletes registered for COD can attend the clinics.
Umpiring Development
Hockey NSW are very supportive of umpire development and all COD participants again this year will be undertaking an hour’s umpire development to assist with their game understanding increase their ability to then umpire at the Regional Challenge event. This development is being introduced with the support of the Hockey NSW Umpire and Officials Development Manager Zeke Newman. This can see athletes obtain their community umpire accreditation at the Regional Challenge.
Regional Challenge
Participating in the COD this year will also include your registration to the Regional Challenge.
Held at Moorebank Hockey Complex on the 22nd – 24th February 2019, the event serves an important role in the talent identification for Under 13 and Under 15 age cohorts and assist in the selection process for both divisions.
