After a difficult day earlier HANNAH TOURNEUR (4.34.24) ran the perfect championship style race to put herself in the right place at the bell. In her trademark fashion Hannah lifted the tempo as the lead pack started to make their moves. Up the back straight it was the moment that Hannah got right behind the Aussie leader and then powered away down the final straight with a 65” last lap victory.
There was plenty of drama in the U14 girls 1500m final with a couple of call-backs at the start as the big field were itching to get going. As the pack reached the first bend there were plenty of elbows and pushing eventually leading to athletes falling or getting impeded. Unfortunately, LENI KNOWLES went down, but to her credit picked herself up as quickly as she could. After the race Leni discovered a deep gash on her calf which required stitches (see photo). Not something you usually expect at the track. VIOLETTE SMITH got herself a top ten finish in what was a messy race.
There were PBs for BRODIE RALPH, MAEYA ROBINSON, MALI LOVETT and JAMES MITCHELL to round off a great nine days of competition for the club.
