Mid South Regional Open Championships 2020
Eligibility: This tournament is an open level competition. This means it is suitable for fencers over 13 years old. We encourage you to particite in this premier regional event. Check with your coach if you are unsure whether you should fence. Participants must be current affliated members of Fencing New Zealand (ie: have paid their membership fee for the 2020 year).
Competition Format: One round of poules with bouts to 5 hits. Followed by a round of Direct Elimination. The direct elimination round will include A and B finals. Separate men’s and women’s events will be held when each gender, has 6+ fencers.
Medals/ Trophies:
Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd equal. If events are mixed gender 1st, 2nd women will be awarded(depending on numbers). Medals will also be awarded for the B finals.
Please note that no FeNZ ranking points will be allocated to this tournament; refer to FeNZ website for details.

Entry Fee:
$30 per Weapon
Entries Close: 8pm Wednesday 21st October.
Entry fees are to be paid at time of entry. Mid South's preferred method of payment, is by internet banking.

As the reference please use fencer's name and the invoice number eg: ME736.
Late entries will be at the discretion of the DT. A late fee of $10 will apply.
Equipment Requirements:
Clothing: Minimum of 1150N protection for Torso. This can be made up either by 350N Jacket with an 800N plastron or 800N Jacket with a 350N plastron.
350N+ Breeches. Fencers are reminded that their jacket must have a 10cm overlap of the breeches in the guard and lunge positions.
350N+ Mask. All masks must be fitted well and in good state and elastic in good condition. Leon Paul Contour-Fit masks must have a secondary strap security fitting at the back. Visor masks are not acceptable.
Chest Protectors: Are compulsory for women
Foil: Lame Bibs, Mask Wires and FIE blades required, Bayonet and 2 pin body wires accepted.
Epee: FIE blades required. Leon Paul SR-1 blades with the V profile stamped 2013 to 2015 will not be accepted.
Sabre: S2000 or later required. Visor Masks will not be accepted. Curly mask wires are not accepted.

Control marks: It is the fencer’s responsibility to ensure that all equipment that goes through weapons control has control marks. It is the fencer’s responsibility to ensure control marks are still present every time they go to the piste.

Friday 23 October 2020
6.30pm to 8pm Weapons Control for all weapons. This will be held at the Fencing Institute.
Saturday 24 October 2020
Weapons control will be open one hour before each event for out of town fencers

Rule Changes: FIE rule t.124, Non-Combativity rule will be implemented at this competition.
FIE rule t.122, is suspended. Fencers will instead be required to salute each other, by way of acknowledging their opponent and the referee.
