MidSouth Regional Open Championships 2016 

Eligibility: This competition is an open level competition. This means it is suitable for adult fencers, U20s and U17s with their coaches approval ie: experienced secondary school fencers and above. Fencers must be a current,2016, Fencing New Zealand member. If you have not yet renewed your membership this year you can do that by going to Fencing MidSouth Website and clicking on the membership link. 

Competition Format: One round of poules with bouts to 5 hits. Followed by a round of Direct Elimination. 

Fencers eliminated in earlier elimination rounds will get to fence off if time/ referees permits. 

Separate men’s and women’s events will be held when each gender has 6+ fencers

Timetable:
Saturday 8 October

11am     Epee Registration Opens

11:20am Epee Registration Closes

11:30am Epee Starts

3pm Sabre Registration Opens

4pm Sabre Starts ( after epee concludes) 

Sunday 9 October

8.30am   Foil Registration Opens

8:50am Foil Registration Closes

9am        Foil Starts

 

Entry Fee:

$35 First Weapon, $15 for extra weapon

Entries close 8pm  Thursday 6th October.

Medals: medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd equal. If events are mixed gender 1st, 2nd women will be awarded(depending on numbers).

 

Equipment Requirements:

Clothing: Minimum of 1150N protection for Torso. This can be made up either by 350N Jacket with an 800N plastron or 800N Jacket with a 350N plastron.

350N Breeches

350N Mask. All masks must be fitted well and in good state and elastic in good condition. Following the new FeNZ ruling Leon Paul Contour-Fit masks must have a secondary strap  security fitting at the back.

Foil: Lame Bibs, Mask Wires and FIE blades required, Bayonet and 2 pin body wires accepted.

Epee: FIE blades required.  Leon Paul SR-1 blades with the V profile stamped 2013 to 2015 will not be accepted.

Sabre: FIE blades S2000 or later required. Visor Masks will not be accepted.

Canteen: Food and drink will be available for purchase at the venue during the tournament.

Results: Live results will be available from on the Fencing Mid South web site.
