Fencing  MidSouth Under 20 Championships

This competition is open to all fencers who were under 20 years old on the 1st January 2016 ie: born in 1996 or later. It is suitable for 12+ years old eg: secondary school students.

Participants must be members of Fencing New Zealand  (ie: have paid their membership fee for the year). If you are not yet a member you can click on the link below and become one.

Format: First Round: poules with bouts to 5 hits. Second Round: Direct Elimination to 15 hits.  B finals will be fenced for weapons with 8+ competitors.

Entry Fee: $22 per weapon. Entries close Thursday 11th August, 9pm. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the organiser. 

Entry fees are to be paid by internet banking,  a/c number 03-0802-0087494-00.  Please include “fencer’s name,  U20 champs” as the reference.

Gear Requirements: Minimum 350N jacket, 350N plastron,  350N breeches, 350N mask, 350N glove. Chest protectors are compulsory for girls. Lame Foil bibs are not required.  Standard (non-FIE) blades are acceptable.

Canteen: Snacks, lunch and drinks will be available for the duration of the competition.

Timetable: 

9am         Men's/Women's Electric Foil Registration

9:30am    Fencing Starts

12:30pm    Men's/Women's Electric Epee Registration

1:00pm    Fencing Starts or when foil event finishes

3:30pm    Men's/Women's Sabre Registration

4pm        Fencing Starts or when epee event finishes

Separate men's and women's events will be run if there are 6+ competitors in each gender. Medals will be awarded for first, second, third/ third equal depending on numbers.
