Fencing Mid South Secondary Schools 2025/2
Eligibility: This competition is for Year 9 to Year 13 students who are enrolled in high school, correspondence school or are home schooled. If you are a year 8 student who is enrolled in a school that teaches up to year 13 please talk to your coach to see if you are eligible to fence in this competition. Participants must be current affliated members of Fencing New Zealand (ie: have paid their membership fee for the 2025 year).

Timetable*:
Sunday 17th May 2025
8.30am - 8.45am Registration Women's & Men's Epee Individual
9.00.am Start Women's & Men's Epee
12.00pm - 12.15pm Registration Mixed Sabre Individual
12.30pm Start Mixed Sabre
1.30pm - 1.45pm Registration Women's & Men's Foil Individual
2.00pm Start Women's & Men's Foil Individual
* If there are not enough competitors for separate boys and girls events, a mixed gender competition will be held. Competitors will be notified by email of this change once entries have closed. The organisers may change the timetable depending on entries.
Format: This tournament is an individual event in foil, epee and sabre.
First Round: poules with bouts to 5 hits.
Second Round: Direct Elimination to 15 hits.
Separate events will be held for Boys and Girls as long as there are 4+ competitors in each gender. Encourage your school mates to come to this competition too.

Medals/Trophies:
Medals will be awarded for first, second, third/ third equal depending on numbers.

Friday, 16th May 2025, 10pm.
Entry Fee:
$30 per weapon.
Entry fees are to be paid at time of entry. No cash payment will be received on the day of competition.
Gear Requirements: Minimum 350N jacket, 350N plastron, 350N breeches or tracksuit pants, 350N mask, 350N glove. Chest protectors are compulsory for girls. Lame Foil bibs are not required. Standard (non-FIE) blades are acceptable.
350N+ Mask. All masks must have the new strapping system and have good quality elastic. Leon Paul Contour-Fit masks must have a secondary strap security fitting at the back. Visor masks are not acceptable.
Gloves- Must have no hole for body wires.
Bayonet and 2 pin body wires accepted.
Leon Paul SR-71 blades that are stamped 08-2012 to 06-2015 will not be accepted. Leon Paul V blade stamped 08-2012 to 06-2015 without a unique serial number will not be accepted. (currently banned by Fencing NZ).
Sabre: S2000 or later required. Visor Masks will not be accepted. Curly mask wires are not accepted.
Rule Changes:
Non-Combativity: FIE rule t.124 was revised in 2018 and 2022. The current version will be applied at this competition.
Fencer Salute: FIE rules t.122 and t.1 were revised in October 2023 for the 2023/2024 season and will be applied at this competition.
Drug Free Sport: By participating in this event, you agree that you have been warned of the potential of being selected for anti-doping testing and you will comply with anti-doping testing if required. Photography and Publication
Photography is permitted at all Fencing MidSouth competitions, as the competition venue is a public place. However, photography is strictly prohibited in non-public areas such as changing rooms and toilets. Participants are advised to refrain from changing in public spaces, as doing so forfeits their right to privacy. Fencing MidSouth reserves the right to publish photos taken at the competition on social media, the internet, and printed media, including images of spectators and officials.
