Entry fee – South Island Championships: $50. Additional weapons - $20 per weapon

Entry fee – Veterans’ Epee Challenge: $50.

Competition format

One round of pools followed by direct elimination.

Genders will be separate unless there are insufficient entries of one gender in an event.

Men’s Foil:

Registration 8.00am-8.15am

Fencing Commences 8.30am

 

Women’s Epee:

Registration 11.00am-11.5am

Fencing Commences 11.30am

 

Sabre:

Registration 1.00pm-1.15pm

Start time will be announced after registration

 

Veterans’ Epee:

Registration 1.15pm-1.30pm

Start time will be announced after registration

Men’s Epee:

Registration 8.00am-8.15am

Fencing Commences 8.30am

 

Women’s Foil:

Age Limits

Open: Open to fencers who were 13+ on 1 January 2018. An extraordinarily advanced fencer younger than this age may be permitted to participate with the written permission of his/her parent(s)/guardian and also the endorsement of his/her coach.

Veterans: Open to all fencers who will be 40+ years old on 31st December 2017.

Equipment Requirements

Clothing: Minimum of 1150N protection for Torso. This can be made up either by 350N Jacket with an 800N plastron or 800N Jacket with a 350N plastron; 350N Breeches.

Mask: 350N Mask. All masks must be fitted well and in good state and elastic in good condition. Leon Paul masks using the Comfort-fit system need a secondary security strap; visor masks are prohibited for all 3 weapons.
Foil: Lame Bibs and FIE blades required
Epee: FIE blades required; Leon Paul SR­1 blades with the V profile stamped 2013 to 2015 will not be accepted.
Sabre: FIE blades S2000 or later blades required.
Wires:  Bayonet and 2-pin body wires accepted. Curly mask wire are accepted for sabre only

Please go through Weapons Check on Friday evening if you are able to. Weapons Check will be available before events, however, there will be a queue, and you risk not getting your gear checked in time.

 

Travel
Note that Dunedin airport is 20-30 minutes out of the city. You will need to factor this into your travel time. An airport shuttle is much cheaper than getting a taxi: www.supershuttle.co.nz or www.kiwishuttles.co.nz. In addition to Air NZ, Jetstar fly direct Auckland-Dunedin and Wellington-Dunedin.
