Fencing  Mid South Under 20 Championships

This competition is open to all fencers who were under 20 years old on the 1st January 2018 ie: born in 1998 or later. It is suitable for 12+ years old eg: secondary school students. If you are not sure if the competition is appropriate for you/ your child please contact your coach or the Mid South school class administrator, Leasa Ogilvie.

We welcome competitors from other regions of New Zealand to fence in this competition.

Participants must be members of Fencing New Zealand  (ie: have paid their membership fee for 2018  year). If you are not yet a member you can click on the link below and become one.

Fencing New Zealand and Fencing Mid South 2018 Membership

 

Format: First Round: poules with bouts to five hits. Second Round: Direct Elimination to 15 hits.     B finals will be fenced for weapons with 8+ competitors. 

All weapons will be fenced mixed gender unless there are 6+ competitors in both genders. ie: six Men and six Women

Medals & Trophies

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd equal. If events are mixed gender 1st, 2nd women will be awarded(depending on numbers).

The Mid South U20 Trophies will also be presented to the No 1 fencer in each event.

Entry Fee: $25 per weapon. Entries close Wednesday 29th August, 8pm. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the organiser. 

Entry fees are to be paid at time of entry. Mid South preferred payment method is by  internet banking.

 Please use the fencer's name and the invoice number eg: ME736 as your reference

Gear Requirements: Minimum 350N jacket, 350N plastron,  350N breeches, 350N mask, 350N glove. Chest protectors are compulsory for girls. Lame Foil bibs are not required however for those who compete at national level it is suggested they be worn.  Standard (non-FIE) blades are acceptable.  

Leon Paul X-Change Masks must have a  secondary Strap/Bar. All masks must be in good condition. (The elastic shall be in good working order and return to original position – ie shall not be deformed and shall have elasticity. The hook and loop securing the elastic shall be in good order and capable of retaining the elastic and resist being removed)

Gloves: No hole is permitted for wires

Weapons: Standard (non FIE) blades for foil and epee, S2000 or above for Sabre blade

Leon Paul - All SR71 Epee Blades (2013-2015) are banned.

Weapons Check: Weapons will be checked with weights and gauges on the piste.

 

Timetable: 

8.45am to 9am  Men's/Women's Foil Registration

9.30am Foil Starts

12.15pm to 12.30pm  Men's/Women's Epee Registration

1pm  Epee Starts or when foil event finishes

3.15pm to 3.30pm   Men's/Women's Sabre Registration

4pm Sabre Starts or when epee event finishes

 

Canteen: Snacks, lunch and drinks will be available for the duration of the competition.
