Sport Athlete Training offered to Esport Athletes
It is our commitment to athletes in Oceanic to help improve the community and wellbeing of all competitors. During the year it is envisaged that online athlete training session will be available to competitors.
This is optional training to support the community in safety and inclusivity.
Promotion and Relegation
Promotion and relegation aims to create a whole of bridge from foundations (high school sport) to Elite (Intervarsity) and to mastery (Professional League) for oceanic athletes (FTEM framework).
2 positions are available for universities OLI teams to compete in ODT.
On completion of the Oceanic League of Legends Intervarsity competition the top 2 Division 2 teams, Top 2 Division 3 teams and top 2 Women’s teams will be offered to compete in Rounds 1-3 to progress to round 4 of the promotion and relegation gauntlet. The top 2 Division 1 teams progress to Start in round 4 and compete against 2 winners of Rounds 1-3. The winners of Trials will compete against last season's ODT univesity teams. This will be repeated each season in a mid and end of year promotion and relegation cycle.
LCO developmental squads, which may be labelled Academy teams, do not need to compete in the Promotion Relegation round.
Impacts on midyear and end of year student graduations
It is understood that players may graduate midyear and end of year from their university.
- Midyear students who have completed their studies may compete in semester 2. This considers their university graduation ceremonies and exiting from university.
- End of year graduates are not allowed to compete the following year.
Impacts on Teams midyear and end of year
Promoted Universities ODT Teams roster is unlocked from season to season.
- This aims to support developmental pathways from foundations to mastery for athletes (FTEM framework) in line with annual university sport scholarships processes in rising sport and esports scholarships.
- Also, to encourage university sport supported teams elevating the oceanic competitions.
However, in operation:
- University ODT teams require the same constraints as normal OLI on selection of their team, i.e. must be enrolled students. Note that teams may still be relegated to OLI in mid-year promotion and relegation cycle.
