The biggest high school esports competition of its kind in Queensland was hosted by QUT (Queensland University of Technology) earlier this year in October. More than 250 students and representatives from at least 20 schools across Queensland took part in the Nissan Arena event, for a day-long League of Legends Howling Abyss tournament. The league aims to boost the profile of esports in Queensland and provide a grassroots program that encompasses ‘real world’ learning while also providing a possible pathway to university for players and people interested in careers within the multi-million-dollar professional esports industry. COVID Safety Update
We are operating under Phase 1 (eased restrictions).
When you're on campus
• Face masks are currently not required, except while using or waiting for public transport (like the QUT shuttle bus). Masks are still recommended when you can't physically distance.
• Hand sanitiser and wipes will be available for cleaning between uses of equipment.
• Mask and mandatory vaccination requirements still apply in some high-risk settings, check the Queensland Health website for details.
• We encourage you to physically distance where possible and practice good hygiene (like washing your hands often). Contractors and visitors should be reminded to follow these directives and stay home if unwell.
If you have COVID-19 symptoms
• With COVID-19 prevalent in the community if you feel unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19 (like fever, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath), get tested and isolate.
• Follow all medical advice and directions from Queensland Health
