Fred Conyers & Len Voss Story
The following is a newspaper clipping that appeared in the local paper around October 1979. The article relates to Colin Voss and Fred Conyers who took over Campbelltown Trophies about a month earlier.
Fred stayed in the business for 7 years with Col until February 1987 when Col took over Fred’s share in the company.
Fred and Col were well supported by the other hockey clubs in Campbelltown district. It was a total change of career path for Fred after computer programming and operations of main frame computers. Fred believes Col may have enjoyed the change from his Automatic Motor business!
The club was formed back in 1975 and Fred’s memory in those initial years is still pretty good so we will be pressing to get some great snippets of our club history from Fred who said he would be more then happy to relay them. Good on you Fred!
One recent recollection from Fred “I still can’t believe in that first year that we got beat 9-2 in the major semi final by Army but got up 2-0 in the grand Final”
