At EastSail we teach Royal Yachting Association (RYA) courses. RYA training is the world’s most recognised and trusted sail training scheme and offers progressive learning at all levels from beginners through to advanced level courses. The advantage for you is that there is one scheme – one log look – one transparent, step by step training syllabus, no need to change between different schemes and no risk of any skills being missed along the way.
RYA learn to sail courses and qualifications are recognised around the world. The RYA Yachtmaster is well regarded as the pinnacle of this highly successful sailing training scheme. The Yachtmaster qualification is accepted as a commercial certificate in many parts of the world, including Australia. Recreational sailors find that charter companies recognise the standards of the RYA courses. The RYA Day Skipper is accepted as proof of competence to apply for the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

Learn to sail with EastSail - our fleet and instructors
Our learn to sail courses conducted on the beautiful waters of Sydney Harbour and along the Australian coastline.
As we care about your safety our fleet is rigorously inspected, maintained and certified. Our sailing school fleet is in full commercial survey with NSW Roads and Maritime and have Australia Sailing safety certificates. In addition our yachts are inspected annually by the RYA.
Our sailing school instructors are all highly qualified and selected by us for their ability to teach you to sail in a friendly and relaxed, yet professional manner! Our instructors are trained and qualified as RYA Yachtmaster instructors. In addition many also have either a Coxswain or Master Class 5 qualification with Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Of course they all also have current first aid certificate and Sea Safety and Survival qualifications.
If you have little or no previous sailing experience, the best place to start to learn to sail is with our sailing school. Our beginners Start Yachting Course can be completed in one weekend as a live-aboard course, or taken as 4 x 3 hour lessons over a 4 weekends.

Our Motor boat training courses
Eastsail offers 1 day and 2 day power boat training courses. Both of these courses will entitle you to gain your NSW Boat Licence provided you pass the multiple choice knowledge test at the end of the day.These courses are suitable for people with or without previous boating experience.

NSW Motor Boat licence course
This one day Australian Sailing Powerboat Course will give you the skills and knowledge to apply for a NSW motor boat licence.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 course
This course will entitle you to the RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate, a NSW motor boat licence and the ICC Motor to 10m.
International Certificate of Competance (ICC)
The ICC is necessary qualification to charter yachts in Europe and around the world.
